About Steve Spray….

He was our mentor, our advisor, our friend… Steve Spray, former Golf Professional at St. Louis Country Club for 34 years, passed away on May 15, 2020. He was always there for us at the AGT…he rounded up stray golfers to get them to the first tee on time, he started the field off many times, he drove all over the golf course to keep the pace of play on schedule, he had water for players….whatever was asked of Steve, he was there for us.
He loved working with young golfers instilling in them the same love of the game of golf that he cherished. He guided us in the development of the AGT and kept us on the right path as we progressed through the past 10 years.

Hit ’em long and straight, Mr. Spray. We love you.

Stephanie, Steve’s daughter, has requested that any money donated to Steve be placed in a Scholarship Fund in Steve’s name to be administered by the Accelerated Golf Tour. All donations can be sent to:

COLLEGE Webster University – Webster Groves, MO

Hi! My name is Justin. I attend Webster University, majoring in Finance. My favorite subject thus far is accounting. I see myself as a Corporate Attorney…I have a long path to go but I am on my way. When I want to relax, I enjoy playing basketball and hiking…or just playing the piano. After an active day, I love sitting down to a pepperoni pizza and a big bowl of Cookies and Cream ice cream. I have played golf all of my life but began competing at age 13…this is an activity that can bring a family together for laughs and fun. I just keep telling myself that if golf was easy, everyone would play. I never quit when things don’t go my way on the course or in life.

Megan Breslin

2021 Steve Spray Memorial Scholarship Winner

COLLEGE Southern Illinois University Carbondale – Carbondale, IL

See Scholarship Entry

Megan Breslin is my name and I am a student at SIU Carbondale. My major is Nursing and my favorite subject is human anatomy. My goal is to become a travel nurse, traveling and seeing the US and wherever I am needed. I will eat any cheese pizza served and attack any bowl of ice cream and plenty of it. My dad introduced me to golf about 15 years ago and that was something that brought us closer together. I love playing golf, spending time with my friends and playing with my dog. My message to girls interested in golf is to never give up because in the beginning, golf can be extremely frustrating and challenging compared to other sports but the more time you spend practicing and competing, the more you will begin to enjoy the sport and hopefully play the rest of your life.

Sarah Breslin

2021 Steve Spray Memorial Scholarship Winner

COLLEGE Lewis University – Romeoville, IL

See Scholarship Entry

I am Sarah Breslin and I am a golfer who loves the game. I have competed since I was ten years old. If I could tell a young girl who was interested in golf two things: it is a game of integrity and it is an amazing game because you can play for the rest of your life. I am currently a student at Lewis University in Romeoville, IL. I am majoring in computer science and hope to end up working for a cyber security team. However, my favorite subject is philosophy. In my spare time I love hanging out with my friends, watching movies and playing with my dog. My favorite meal would be a cheese pizza and a cupful, a bowlful or a cone of anything chocolate.
